Greetings, Sims fans!

It's no secret around the office that there's almost nothing I want more in life than making sure that The Sims 2 is an absolutely jaw-dropper of a game. I want you to pick up a copy of the game. Or two. I want you to tell all your friends about it. And then I want them to get copies, and tell their friends. I want this cycle to continue until the only people left in the world who haven't played The Sims 2 are tucked away in remote corners of rainforests around the world, sporting machete haircuts and munching on taro roots, cut off from the larger human civilization. That's what I want.

But that's just me.

You probably have wishes and dreams and aspirations of your own. You might place a premium on your romantic life, or you might be pursuing your artistic dream. Maybe you're chasing after the all-mighty dollar, or after your toddler or teenage daughter. Whatever the case, it's no stretch to imagine that there are things in life on which you place emphasis, and goals that you set for yourself. In The Sims 2, this is no different. Every Sim has a unique set of wants and aspirations, and it's your job to help them achieve their goals. Or dash their hopes upon the rocks of despair. That's right - in The Sims 2, your Sims not only have wants and desires, but they also have fears as well, and how you manage their behavior and actions determines whether they will achieve their aspirations, or let the fears run their lives instead.

But alas, it's time for me to end this missive and get back to work, because I'm sure one thing we can all agree on is that we all aspire to see The Sims 2 hit store shelves on time. I'm going to go work on that aspiration. While I'm doing that, you can indulge a few of your wants by perusing these Sims 2 screenshots.

Bizarre Love Triangle
E3 attendees were entertained with a fun hands-on demo of The Sims 2 revealing a sneak peek into a moment in the life of Sim, Don Baxter.

Don's life aspiration is Romance, whereas his wife Sarah's goal is Family. Don's old flame Dina is at Don's son's birthday party, and ol' Don just wants to talk, flirt and more with his old heartthrob. The party gets sticky when Sarah's sister catches Don "cozying up" to Dina back in the quiet cabana. Sarah's sister dutifully defends her honor and that's when things get really fun.

EA Ships The Sims Mega Deluxe

The Greatest Compilation of the Top-Selling PC Game of All Time

REDWOOD CITY, Calif., May 25, 2004 - Electronic Arts (Nasdaq: ERTS) today announced the release of The Sims™ Mega Deluxe in North America, the ultimate compilation of the top-selling PC franchise of all time. The Sims Mega Deluxe combines the original #1 PC game, The Sims, with three of its popular expansion packs: The Sims Livin' Large, The Sims House Party, and The Sims Hot Date. Assembling a staggering 600 items for your Sims to use the first time you play, there's never been a better time to try The Sims.

The Sims, which originally launched in February 2000, is the wildly popular game that allows players to create a neighborhood of simulated people known as Sims and control their lives. For the first time, The Sims Mega Deluxe combines The Sims with three popular expansion packs:

  • The Sims Hot Date, which allows players to be matchmakers for their Sims, watching the sparks fly or fizzle. Sims can venture out of the house and into the downtown area, where they'll gossip over a candlelit dinner, buy gifts for their dates, or just cruise the strip in hopes of getting lucky. Also included are 125 romantically searing items like the Cuddle Couch and Lover's Swing.
  • The Sims Livin' Large allows players to put their Sims into the most outrageous situations and settings. Its content adds 125 extreme items to the game including a home chemistry lab, heart shaped bed, and crystal ball, as well as a cast of wild characters such as the Grim Reaper, Genie, and Tragic Clown.
  • The Sims House Party gives players everything they need to throw the biggest bashes in their neighborhood. Whether their Sims hoedown at a country barn dance, chow down at a tropical luau, or go underground at a rave, they are sure to rock the house. Additionally, there are over 100 outrageous items such as a dance cage and mechanical bull, as well as madcap characters like a cake dancer and personal caterer.

The Sims Mega Deluxe also includes The Sims™ Creator, an inventive customization tool for creating Sim characters. Players can recreate any Sim imaginable, right down to the smallest detail, including a variety of new clothes and customized accessories. For the ultimate level of personalization, players can import their face into the program and put it directly on a Sim character.

Rounding off this must-have collection, players can furnish their homes with additional content ranging from decorative Japanese outdoor fountains to exotic African masks. This bonus material also will be available for download from http://www.thesims.com. Access to this content requires players to own The Sims Mega Deluxe Edition, The Sims Double Deluxe Edition, The Sims Deluxe Edition or The Sims plus any one of the following expansion packs, The Sims Vacation, The Sims Unleashed, or The Sims Superstar. Please visit the site for further information.

The Sims Mega Deluxe requires Windows® XP or 98, a 300 MHz Intel Pentium II, 128 MB of RAM, a 4 MB video card with DirectX 7.0 compatible driver, and a DirectX 7.0 compatible sound card. The Sims Mega Deluxe is available in stores now for a suggested retail price of US $39.99 or by direct order from the EA StoreSM at http://www.ea.com or by calling 877-EA GAMES (1-877-324-2637).
